Recognising major milestones
Since 2014, our focus has been on funding organisations that can provide entrepreneurs with the support they need to grow. In this report, we champion some of their successes in East Africa and Central America.
Our mission at Argidius is to encourage entrepreneurship and help small businesses grow and create jobs. For people living in low and middle-income countries, a decent job offers income, dignity, stability and a route out of poverty.
When entrepreneurs have access to the right support, their businesses thrive, jobs are created, local economies grow and communities are strengthened.
The challenge now is to scale up, so that many millions of good new jobs can be created. Argidius is proud to be part of a growing global movement for enterprise development and social goals, so as to build a prosperous world in which everyone can fulfil their potential.
Tackling poverty through enterprise development
Our mission is to help individuals, families and whole communities move away from poverty through access to decent, fulfilling, paid work. For this to happen, far more quality jobs in emerging economies are needed.
Argidius’ partners have supported the growth of 117,000 businesses in Central America and Africa. Their services have resulted in the creation of 240,000 new full and part-time jobs, adding €4 billion in value to local economies and mobilising €3 billion of finance to fuel further business growth. One-third of the businesses aided by Argidius' partners have explicit social or environmental objectives.
We continue to witness the drive of our partners and entrepreneurs in both East Africa and Central America to achieve success through business, alongside their optimism for the future. We are inspired by their resolve to realise improvements in society for themselves, their communities and future generations.
